Job Security

Yes, the economy sucks.

In the last couple of weeks, customers have been coming in to our store asking us when our last day is.

Pier One may close some stores, but seeing as we are consistently in the top three (often number one) in our region, our location will not be one of them.

I am safe.

And hopefully advancing again, soon.

What we DO need at our store is more employees. In the last month a bunch of people have quit. Apparently their not fond of actually working. Most of them didn't bother to officially give notice, either. They just stopped showing up.

How annoying to have people quit without notice. Must be a pain!

I hadn't been to Pier One in years and just went back for the first time and fell in love all over again. I sure hope our branch isn't one closing!

I like that you remain so positive in an industry weighed down by negativity!

The upside, I guess, is that when the others stop showing up, you gain seniority!

Well keep a spot open for me if I can't find work here in the next 8 weeks (when my unemployment runs out...again).

The whole not showing up thing has been a problem here for awhile...jobs abound (at least they have), they don't need the reference.
